The Capital Region MU Health Care Amphitheater, inaugurated in 2021 in Jefferson City, MO, is a versatile venue seating 2,500 people. It hosts a wide range of events, including concerts, comedy shows, graduations, festivals, and large gatherings. Managed by VenuWorks, which holds naming rights for both the venue and the box office, the amphitheater features a seating capacity of over 2,500, comprising 500 reserved seats, 300 terrace general admission seats, and more than 1,700 lawn general admission spots. Additionally, it offers ample onsite parking with over 1,000 spaces, including 460 paved and 600+ grass spots.

Rich Thompson is a seasoned entertainment industry professional with nearly three decades of experience in concert promotion, tour logistics, venue operations, sales, and marketing. As Executive Director of the Capital Region Amphitheater in Jefferson City, Missouri, Rich oversees programming, operations, marketing strategy, and community partnerships, helping position the venue as a premier destination for live entertainment in the region.
Rich began his career in 1997 in Orlando, Florida, after graduating from Full Sail University in Winter Park. He started as an assistant at Figurehead Productions, supporting the production of live concerts throughout Central Florida. He later moved into tour management, where he spent several years handling the day-to-day logistics of touring artists and live productions. His experience also includes serving as a media buyer and tour marketer for the internationally recognized Lipizzaner Stallions touring show.
Rich joined VenuWorks in 2019 as Sales and Marketing Manager for the Bridge View Center in Ottumwa, Iowa, where he played a key role in driving ticket sales, strengthening corporate partnerships, and supporting the venue’s overall growth. In early 2025, he was named Executive Director of the Capital Region Amphitheater.
With a career that spans both the promotional and operational sides of the live entertainment industry, Rich brings a well-rounded perspective to venue leadership. His focus is on delivering exceptional experiences for artists, audiences, partners, and the Jefferson City community.
