VenuWorks is honored to be part of the project team selected to help advance Fargo’s future convention center at the Civic Center site in Downtown Fargo.
On June 22, 2026, the Fargo City Commission voted to select the Fargo Civic Center, located at 207 4th St. N., as the site of the city’s new convention center. The project is expected to transform the existing Civic Center structure into a modern convention destination within walking distance of restaurants, shops, public gathering spaces, hotels and year-round downtown activity.
The project will move forward as a public-private partnership, with the City of Fargo financing construction of the convention center and the development team financing construction of a new 100-room Marriott Moxy hotel at 222 4th St. N. Plans also call for the new convention center to be connected by skyway to the new hotel, the existing Radisson Blu and Jasper hotels, and the City-owned Civic Center Parking Garage.
VenuWorks is proud to join a strong team of local and national partners with expertise in architecture, engineering, construction, hospitality, downtown activation and event management. The project team includes EAPC Architects Engineers, Kilbourne Group, Zander Capital Management, McGough Construction, KLJ Engineering, Heyer Engineering, Confluence Landscape Architects, VenuWorks, Folkways, Gensler and Swap Integration.
“We are grateful to the City of Fargo for the opportunity to be part of this important project,” said Steve Peters, CEO of VenuWorks. “Convention centers are powerful community assets. When planned and operated well, they support downtown vitality, drive visitor spending, create new opportunities for local businesses and provide gathering places that serve residents and visitors alike. We are excited to bring VenuWorks’ experience to the table as Fargo moves forward with this transformational investment.”
The City of Fargo’s announcement notes that additional planning, design and development activities are expected to begin in the coming months. Construction could begin as early as 2026, with completion targeted for 2029.
As an employee-owned venue management company, VenuWorks brings a people-first approach to venue operations, community engagement and event development. The company looks forward to collaborating with the City of Fargo and the full project team as the convention center planning process advances.
“This project represents an exciting vision for Downtown Fargo and the region’s future visitor economy,” said Steve Peters, “We are honored to be included and eager to help support a facility that reflects Fargo’s energy, ambition and sense of community.”
VenuWorks extends its appreciation to the City of Fargo, the Fargo City Commission and all partners involved in this milestone project.
