OTTUMWA ROTARY CLUB LEADERSHIP TRANSITION BRIDGE VIEW CENTER’S EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SCOTT HALLGREN PASSES TORCH

Ottumwa, Iowa (July 2, 2025) – Bridge View Center Executive Director Scott Hallgren is pleased to announce that he has completed his term as Ottumwa Rotary Club President for 2024-2025. Shea Greiner, Director of Economic Development Programs for Pathfinders RC&D, has been named the 2025-2026 Ottumwa Rotary Club President.

During his term, Hallgren exemplified “service above self.” Highlights of the past year included funding for four (safety) bollards for the Ottumwa Trails Council’s new Des Moines River bridge, new security doors for the Wapello County Expo grounds and building, an increased scholarship commitment of $5,000 for Ottumwa High School Students, a $1,000 Ponseti training to Argentina as part of the Rotary International global and grant project, Josh The Otter water safety program for children and more.

In the past year, the Ottumwa Rotary Club invested $40, 330 back into the community.  “I am grateful for the opportunity to lead our Ottumwa Rotary Club this past year and work alongside an incredible board and our club members,” Hallgren said. “Our club members are committed individuals who want to see Ottumwa thrive and be the best it can be, and it is rewarding and fun to have the opportunity to be involved with dedicated individuals committed to service – Service Above Self! I hope the Josh The Otter program is just the start and we can continue to grow water safety awareness for all children in our Ottumwa community and across Wapello County, especially since we are a river community with also many ponds and lakes surrounding us.”

Greiner has already shared some of her goals and initiatives for her 2025-2026 term as president:

  • Expand Ottumwa Rotary Reader program to second grade students across the Ottumwa Community Schools District.
  • Continue Josh the Otter water safety program
  • Grow  club membership – recruitment and retention of current club members
  • Restart Rotary Interact Club at Ottumwa High School – a program setup by Rotary International for high school age students.
